Educate a nation

There is an African proverb which says “if we educate a boy, we educate one person, but if we educate a girl, we educate a family and a whole nation”.
When we send a girl child to school, she is more likely to ensure that her children also receive an education.
There is also another saying, “investing in a girl’s education is investing in a nation.”
The women in Uganda are the most under educated gender for many reasons, some of the reasons are poverty, many young girls drop out of school due to pregnancy, early marriages and high costs of school tuition.
In 2013, Uganda was ranked 16th among the 25 countries with the highest rates of early marriages with 46% of the girls marrying before the age of 18 years and 12% of the other girls getting married before they are 15 years.
Arise childcare initiative is helping such girls to have an education. We believe that when we help a girl child to have an education, there will be a reduction in child marriages and pregnancy in young girls.
It will also improve the standard of living and reduce the poverty rate.
Educated women are most likely to invest back to their families and communities.
Arise childcare initiative is committed to ensuring that all the children receive an education because when the girl child stays in school, she delays her chances to getting pregnant and getting married at a young age.

Today, we again visited another girl who is under our care, she is in a secondary boarding school. She is called Mugisha. She is in the 8th grade (senior one)
We believe that , arise childcare initiative will not only help these girls to stay in school but we will also ensure that these girls learn and feel safe while they are at school. We provide these girls with school requirements, schools fees and all the necessities of schooling.
We will also ensure that these girls complete all the levels of education and get the necessary skills so that they are able to adopt to a changing world and be able to make decisions about their own lives and contribute to their communities and the world.
